Restorative dentistry is used to treat teeth that have been seriously damaged by tooth decay, gum disease, or oral injuries. If you have one or more damaged or missing teeth, restorative dentistry can be used to renew your smile and your bite.
We offer both composite and amalgam fillings at our office. Composite fillings are tooth-colored and require the removal of less enamel, compared to amalgam fillings, and they’re ideal for front teeth.
Amalgam fillings are silver in color and will discolor your tooth slightly. However, they are extremely durable and hold up well to the pressure of biting and chewing, so they are ideal for filling cavities in the rear teeth. You can consult with Dr. Nill to learn more about each type of filling, and which one may be right for you.
We offer root canal therapy for both posterior (rear) and anterior (front) teeth. In this procedure, Dr. Nill will create an opening in the tooth, and remove infected material from the interior of the tooth, which will then be cleaned, filled, and capped with a filling or crown.
If your tooth is infected, root canal therapy from Dr. David Nill at Riverwalk Dental Care is the best way to remove the infected tooth structure, protect your tooth, and avoid further complications and dental health issues.
Dental crowns are made from durable ceramic materials, and are designed to look and feel just like a real tooth. The crown is permanently attached to your remaining tooth structure after it has been trimmed, covering it up all the way down to the gum line. Crowns are the preferred method to restore and protect severely damaged or decayed teeth.
Dental bridges consist of two dental crowns, which attach to healthy “abutment” teeth and support a false tooth (pontic). This false tooth “bridges” the gap where your missing tooth used to be, giving this procedure its name. Dental bridges are fast and affordable, and are a less-invasive alternative to dental implants.
Partial dentures clip onto your remaining healthy teeth, replacing the gaps in your smile with false teeth and restoring your smile. They’re a great option if you are missing only a few teeth, and want to restore your smile quickly.
Full dentures are only an option if you’ve lost all or most of your teeth, since all of your remaining teeth must be pulled to have them fitted and placed. They fit directly over your gums, and restore the entire upper arch, lower arch, or both arches of your teeth.
We offer sedation for all of our patients. If you’re nervous about an upcoming procedure, get in touch with Riverwalk Dental Care to learn more about your options, and get the care you need to feel safe and relaxed during your appointment.
