If you’re missing one of your teeth, you may feel self-conscious about your smile, and you may not be able to chew easily or speak clearly. Not only that, but you could suffer from further complications like teeth shifting or jaw bone loss. The best way to resolve your condition and restore your mouth is with a single-tooth dental implant from Dr. David Nill at Riverwalk Dental Care. Learn more below, or contact us now for a complimentary implant consultation.
Single-tooth implants are the most common type of dental implant. They consist of a single dental implant (a rod of titanium shaped like a screw) that’s placed into your gum and jaw tissue. This implant heals and bonds with the jaw tissue, acting as an artificial tooth root.
Then, once the implant heals, a dental crown is built that fits perfectly onto the dental implant. This restores the tooth, allowing you to smile and chew normally even after you lose one of your natural teeth.
After Dr. Nill has approved you for a single-tooth implant, he will create a surgical plan using the x-rays and images of your mouth gathered during your consultation. At your next appointment, he will clean and numb your mouth, and gently create an opening in your gum and jaw tissue.
Then, he will place a dental implant into this opening, clean and disinfect the area, and suture it shut. This may be repeated if you are getting more than one single-tooth implant. After the treatment, you’ll be sent home to rest and recover.
It will take 1-2 weeks to heal from implant placement, but it will take between 3-6 months for the implant to bond with your jaw bone in a process called “osseointegration”. You will come in for several follow-up appointments, where Dr. Nill will measure your teeth and take impressions of them to begin building your dental crown.
Once your mouth has healed completely and your dental crown has been finished, you’ll come in for your final appointment. Dr. Nill will attach the crown, provide you with instructions on how to care for your implant, and send you home with a brand new smile!
A single-tooth implant is a great option if you are only missing one tooth, but your remaining teeth are all strong and healthy. Several implants can also be used to replace multiple missing teeth. Compared to other methods of restoring a single missing tooth, such as partial dentures or dental bridges, dental implants are a permanent, secure solution for qualified patients.
This depends on the location of your tooth, your oral health, and a number of other factors. Unfortunately, we cannot give you a quote unless you see Dr. Nill for a consultation. However, we offer free, no-commitment implant consultations at Riverwalk Dental Care, so you can schedule an appointment now and learn more about how much you can expect to pay for a single-tooth implant.
